Embracing Our Role in God’s Global Vision

Acts 1:8 — “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

DEVOTIONAL

In the whisper of Acts 1:8 lies a profound promise: the arrival of the Holy Spirit brings a subtle presence and a transformative power, propelling us into the world as bearers of witness. This power is not merely for the extraordinary but for all who seek to follow the path laid out by the divine. As witnesses, we are called to share, speak, and live the truth of our convictions in every corner of our existence.

Further, Romans 15:13 fills us with hope, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” This bounding hope is the very essence that fuels our witness. It is not by our strength but by this indwelling power that we speak to the far reaches of human experience.

Similarly, 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power, love and self-control.” This spirit enables us to confront challenges, to speak with love, and to control our doubts and fears. It is a call to action that reverberates through our very bones.

Lastly, Matthew 28:19–20 commands us to go forth and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to observe all that has been commanded. This global mission, set forth by our Creator, is not just a directive; it is an empowerment, a testament to the faith we profess and live out daily.

As we reflect on these verses, we see a pattern of empowerment, not as a momentary gift but as a continual presence that guides and sustains our witness.

PRAYER

Lord, we seek Your Spirit’s power as promised in Your Word. Let this power not intimidate but inspire us to move beyond our boundaries, to speak with courage, and to live out our faith with conviction.

Grant us the strength to be your witnesses, from our neighborhoods to the nations. May this divine strength foster in us a fearless love, a steadfast hope, and a relentless pursuit of Your truth.

Amen.

In the quiet moments, the Spirit whispers, empowering each step, each word, each breath.
